Selected art
The National Gallery of the Faroe Islands administrates a large collection of Faroese art from the 1830s to the present day. Here on the site we have compiled a small selection of artworks from the collection where you can read more about each work.

The collection consists of around 2,500 works, primarily paintings but the collection also includes graphics, sculptures, installations and textiles.

In the National Gallery's collection you can experience the Faroese nature and the unique landscape transformed into pictures. The museum has pictures depicting the green mountains, steep cliffs, the surrounding sea, marvelous rock formations, rich bird life, sheep, the picturesque villages and not least pictures depicting the changing weather in the Faroe Islands.
