Last chance to see the poetic works by Julie Sass

The exhibition by Julie Sass is on view in the foyer until 29th June.

Exhibition of new works by Julie Sass (DK) in the museum foyer.

Julie Sass has published a new art book featuring both texts and images. The texts have been translated into Faroese, and Julie Sass has drawn and painted the texts, which are exhibited alongside the images from the book.

About the art book and the works

The art book is based on overheard conversations on public transportation, interwoven with proverbs and myths. These elements are reflected in the language in a way that allows them to become a sound, a movement, a sensation – rather than a specific meaning in themselves.

As a reader, you can jump in on any page or read the book from beginning to end; both approaches make sense, guided by your own inner voice.

The texts are organized as open visual letters that merge into a shared experience of an immediate, intimate environment. They reference landscape and nature, and how these might appear – for example, in a park. Sculpture and cultural heritage are mentioned as anchor points. Simple, humorous conversations appear throughout. The color palettes are minimal. The drawings unfold as a movement toward something you can almost grasp – they remain abstract, yet suggestive in their partially recognizable forms.
