Exhibition: /Imagine the Faroe Islands

New exhibition opens on 29 September at 16 pm

Imagine one of the most beautiful places on earth. Imagine if the greatest artists throughout history had depicted it.

What would it look like? We went and asked the world’s most advanced artificial art intelligence. The results are displayed at this exhibition.

What is artificial intelligence art?

Artificial intelligence art is digital artworks created by artificial intelligence dating back to the mid-1950s. Back then it was mainly used by scientists who had the required technology. Today, however, this technology is accessible to the public. With more and more platforms providing artificial intelligence art generators, these artworks have grown in numbers - and the algorithms in accuracy.

The technology is evolving so rapidly that even as this exhibition is being shown, there will most likely be new technological advancements discovered of artificial intelligence art generators.

How does it work?

With artificial intelligence art generators, you can make digital artworks. By giving the generator your input - which basically is a string of words and commands, also called prompts - the art generator will give you an output. The generator analyses the prompts that you type into the system. Your prompts are then being matched with billions of images in its database, and then the artificial intelligence uses thousands of trillions of equations to generate the most accurate interpreted aesthetic for the digital artwork. But in the end the artificial intelligence generator can only create artwork as original as the rules of its algorithm.

Therefore, it all comes down to the human input. And imagination.

The exhibition opens on 29 September at 16 pm and can be experienced until 30 October.
