ART GAMES, SILJA STRØM
25 January 2019 - 7 April 2019

Silja Strøm’s new pictures are playful and energetic, while the pastel colours reflect the universe of a young girl. But in the midst of all the innocence and sheer joy of painting, some recognizable characters emerge, triggering mysterious stories. At the same time, the painting is on the verge of getting out of hand and violent, so the play is not just play, it is playing with art.

31-year-old Silja Strøm studied in the UK, where she is now based. She is not only one of the most talented Faroese artists of her generation; she also has a pronounced feminist standpoint, which lends a special cultural and intellectual dimension to her art.
