Faith and Religion
What does a picture of the rapper Eminem’s alter ego and a painting of the village of Mykines have in common? They make use of religious symbols. The painting from Mykines focuses on the cross on the church tower, which is symbolically level with the sunset. The picture on the opposite wall features Slim Shady (aka. Eminem) looking menacing with a gun. He has a halo and wings like an angel in an old work of art. All the works in this room use Christian symbols in different ways: traditional symbols such as the Church, the Bible, angel’s wings, the halo, the Trinity and more universal symbols such as the sparrow, endless light and a celestial balcony.
