The room is full of faces – a total of 34 portraits. This wall features older paintings of named people. On the end wall there are portraits in various media and techniques – several depicting well-known Faroese cultural figures. On the opposite wall there are self-portraits. There are many different expressions – joy, self-confidence, introspection, insecurity etc. On the wall there are three self-portraits by Ruth Smith, in which her expression differs greatly from one picture to another. Look at the people in the pictures and think about the mood they are in. How do the people seem to be feeling? What was their mood when they were being painted?
