The Ocean
The room Ocean is dedicated to artworks depicting the ocean. The 18 islands are surrounded by the turbulent, boundless ocean. Here, the islands are rendered in every conceivable shade of blue. While the ocean is large, deep and dangerous, it is also the Faroe Islands’ largest source of income and employment. The works in this room illustrate how artists portray danger and seriousness, and they feature fishing boats in both calm and stormy weather. Do you see the man returning home with fish? And the fish hanging to dry outside a house?
