Graphic Works
The Faroe Islands have a strong graphic tradition, and here you can discover a selection of works by the many graphic artists who have worked in the Faroe Islands. Among the older generation, Elinborg Lützen and Janus Kamban were particularly instrumental in shaping the Faroese tradition. Their most common technique was linocut. Jóna Rasmussen has used blind debossing, in which folds in the paper create the surface of the picture. Marius Olsen often uses coloured surfaces and windows in his works. Graphic art is extremely versatile. Here, in addition to linocut, you can also see lithography and etching. Have you ever had a go at graphic art – maybe linocut – at school?
