Sheep (1966), Janus Kamban
Bronze, h. 41 cm.
The artist was a sculptor and here a humble subject like a sheep becomes an education in sculpture. The sheep lowers the hind part of its body about to relieve itself. At the same time it turns its head watchfully backwards.
In this way a tension is created within the rounded shape of the animal.
Neither rest nor movement are to be done without in a successful sculpture.
